Will a coating stop lake water spots?
It makes them much easier to remove and less likely to etch. Rinse soon after the boat launch and they'll come right off.
Is it worth it on a work truck?
If you plan to keep it a few years, yes. Washing takes half the effort, and the paint holds up better at trade-in.
